Social Media is a fun and informal way to share the activities of the Yorkshire Rose Quilters beyond the active Guild membership. Using Social Media will help us attract new members and Guest speakers by promoting their social media accounts.
Social Media can also have a downside, therefore this policy outlines some of the basics about how to participate in Social Media safely and responsibly and when to report any concerns.
Guild Social Media Accounts
Yorkshire Rose Quilters’ Guild maintains two social media accounts:
Posts on these accounts will be made by Guild Executive members. Because the Executive members are volunteers, any comments or communications received through Social Media will be responded to ad-hoc and the Executive does not commit to monitoring all comments or mentions at this time. Please continue to use the Guild email or website contact form for communications where you require a response.
The Executive will never request personal information from you through Facebook or Instagram. If you are suspicious of any communications through social media please notify the Executive.
Photo Consent
Any photos used in Social Media of Guild Members or their Guests require consent of the individuals to use their image, and to attribute them in the image/post.
Members and Guests may revoke their consent at any time and request their images and names are removed from any posts on these accounts by emailing the Guild.
Social Media Participation Guidelines for Members
We’d love to see more members helping to promote posts from the Guild accounts. Here are some guidelines the Guild social media accounts will follow to keep Social Media fun for everyone:
- Share what you have permission to -ask for consent to share photos or information about anyone else and limit what you share online to what is necessary.
- Posts/comments should be positive and inclusive in tone -we want to showcase our creative and supportive community!
- Personal promotion and sales -Avoid using Guild social media accounts to promote any personal businesses or independent paid services you provide.
- Protect yourself and others -report any harassment you experience or notice on our accounts. The Guild will delete content or comments on our accounts that are offensive, harmful or inappropriate and take action to block accounts that engage in negative behaviour.
